This week was a real challenge for me. I've been thinking about it all week long. I finally thought that the perfect contradiction is a pig farm and a herd of cows just about a half mile up the road from my house. Ordinarily, this wouldn't seem out of place, but my neighborhood was built around this pig farm and cow lot that has been there since the 1960's. Most of the housing around here was built in early 90's and newer. We have a pub nearby, a high school, Mini Storage, elementary school & shopping center. Sometimes, the wind carries the odor and it's not so great to smell, but most of the time, it doesn't bother the neighborhood. I didn't make it down that way to snap a photo, but if you'd like to read more about the pig farm in the middle of our neighborhood you can click here to see photos and a feature story that came out earlier this year.
I did however, manage to snap one photo that seemed incongruous to me. Click on the photo to see more detail. As you will see, the green freeway sign amidst all the orange equipment just seems out of place, don't you think?
All fork lifts seem to be worshipping the sign! Like some huge metallic congregation. I can hear them singing (a bit rusty, I suppose): "Amazing Interstate how sweet the sound; that flows with cars passing by; I once was lost but found a sign; was blind but now lift high."
ReplyDeleteI think that living in the desert is very incongruous in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
What a shot there girlie!
ReplyDeleteThats a lot of fork lifts in one spot.
Well, I do suppose that it stands out. People should know where they're going, huh?
ReplyDelete:)
LOL - well done!
ReplyDeleteThis was a really hard assignment, but you did well!.
I think you found a good one! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThere are places near my town where ranchettes still exist among multi million dollar wine estates, and I think it's pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThe forklifts look like giant razors, how weird!
ReplyDeletethat is a funny shot! good job!!
ReplyDeleteOk, those forklifts look very weird, almost roboty life like and creepy kinda. But, to Tabor comment living in the desert is not incongruous, it actually quite enjoyable! Gotta stick up for my fellow desert dwellers.
ReplyDeletegreat photo - looks like something on the sci-fi channel.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a forklift convention! How uplifting :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a forklift army! I like it.
