Digital Manipulation on Ghost Town

I love old buildings.
When I first took this photo I really liked it.
It was the first time using my wide angle lens and I was amazed by the perspective.
I thought it was cool.

Then today, I started playing around in picnik with their newest feature, textures.
I tried every single texture they had in every mode.

I was very happy with the outcome.
Unfortunately, they don't name their textures so I have no idea which one I used
but I know I added the texture in difference mode.

And I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT.

It must be the artist in me because I really like that it looks more like a drawing or painting than a photograph.
Maybe it's just that I'm not as good a photographer as I'd like to be so digital manipulation works for me.

Well don't be shy.

Tell me which one you like.

  1. Wow. I love them both. But the manipulated photo is incredibly strange and compelling. Ghostly.

  2. It can be fun playing with photos. I can spend hours just messing around with one that I think would be fun to alter, then I usually just end up posting the original. Nicely done,

  5. I honestly like both of them. The second looks more of what you would expect to see an artist depict a Ghost Town to look.

  6. Hey, cool. I don't know what picnick is, but I do like the effect you got, very much like a drawing but you can see it is derived from a photo. SO it's still a photo. Funny thing, today I was just imagining visiting LV and seeing some of the places you have photographed so successfully. Those burros. Maybe when I retire.

  7. Hmmm, I like the building in the photograph but I love the tree in the manipulation. Maybe you can merge them?

  9. Hard to choose...not being shy...just like both of them in different ways. I also like seeing them both together.
