Now, on with the assignment. I was somewhat intimidated by the topic, but I managed to get a few shots in this evening. I am posting two photos which I took standing in my backyard looking over several neighbors yards to get the photo of the silhouettes. I think they turned out nice. I hope you will like them too.
The next photo, I actually brought a chair outside to stand on
so I could get a better view without the retaining wall being in the way.

You certainly have no reason to feel intimidated. These are lovely shots. The colours are amazing!
ReplyDeleteJarieLyn, they are lovely. Simply love the colours! (Intimidated - good word - describes how I felt about it too!)
ReplyDeletebeautiful shots Jarielyn. I am not participating this week though. We have not had sun in two weeks, nothing but rain. have a wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteVery interseting photos...interesting depths of field.
ReplyDeleteI like what you are doing with the shadows. I must try more of this type of shot.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, here are your five words. Have fun,

I loved the first shot and then I saw the 2nd and loved that too! Great shots both of them. And aren't you glad you gave it a whirl!
ReplyDeleteNicely done, JarieLyn!!! You shared these beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI like the color of the sky. Extraordinary! Is it a palm tree?
ReplyDeleteThese images you captured are beautiful and romantic in feel--I could see them matted and in a frame, JarieLyn!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Palm trees are something I don't see, unless they are manufactured from metal!
ReplyDeleteOh perfection hon!! I just love the second one!! Sarah
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots, I love the second photo!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. Even though it is a silhouette, I still get the sense of many textures. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of palm trees in silhouette! And you reminded me that I have some and forgot about them this week...
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love the sepia color.
ReplyDeleteImpressive Jarielyn!
ReplyDeleteWonderful effects. You really have talent!
ReplyDeleteLeaves against the sky: nothing prettier. You have a nice view from your backyard!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteI like your palm leaves, they make such good photos.
ReplyDeleteRe: My wok, I better scrub it clean before I send it to you. Did you read a Reader's Digest story where a home help nurse came to help a sick woman, she was going to cook some soup and started to take down a pot hanging on the wall. (She had been admiring the newness of the pots.) The kid said," Sorry, mam, my mum doesn't use these pots." Then he went under the sink, the old grubby pots were there.
Beautiful monochromes! Youdid a good job with those, Jarielyn!
ReplyDeleteStunning! I love how you were able to truly capture a shadow without much light illuminating the foreground. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteGood shots--the second one is my favorite!
ReplyDeletei like the last one very much, like a chineses tapestry in its simplicity. enjoyed my visit to your post...
ReplyDeleteI love the second photo. And you are my kind of photographer, getting up on a chair. I carry a small step ladder in my car. It really comes in handy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your talent with us once again.
You are very talented! I especially like the second one.
ReplyDeleteI really, really like that second shot. I love the way you have the sharp lines of the palm and the softness of the needles on the other tree. Cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the texture of the first shot, interesting effect of the tree in the foreground! The second shot looks like it belongs in an ad for a vacation...very nice!
ReplyDeleteYou did great! Now that we have had this topic, I see silhouettes everywhere :)
